Yorkshire Bank invest in Northumbrian tourism

Yorkshire Bank is helping to support regional tourism by backing the construction of five new holiday homes near Alnwick.

Breamish Valley Cottages Ltd have received an investment of almost £1 million to build the two and three bedroom cottages in Branton, and hopes that the expansion will attract new holidaymakers to the North East.

The new cottages will be ready for the 2012 summer season, and will bring the number up to a total of 13.

Many people are choosing to holiday within the UK to make economies, and Breamish Valley Cottages director Peter Moralee now hopes that the extensive on-site offering including swimming pool, tennis court, gymnasium and sauna will encourage visitors.

He commented: “There is a steady trend of more people holidaying in the UK which we expect to
continue as the economy slowly recovers.

“We’re close to wonderful Northumbrian beaches and hill walking in the Cheviots and tend to do well, even with uncertain weather, because of our range of indoor facilities.”

Breamish Valley Cottages now plans to boost its winter trade by linking fitness holidays to its gymnasium and indoor swimming facilities.

Yorkshire Bank Newcastle FSC business partner, Steve Walker, said: “Breamish Valley Cottages is in the right location and has the right mix of top-class indoor leisure facilities and wonderful location amid some of the North East’s best countryside to continue to prosper and we are pleased to be backing this expansion.”

The Yorkshire Bank Investing for Growth initiative enables businesses to take loan repayment holidays, interest-only repayments and extended loan and credit terms to support growth opportunities.

This allows businesses to re-invest their funds to expand their operation, take on new staff or purchase new machinery.
