Champions on camera
Two Investors in People Championsfrom the North of England have featured in a new video released by the UK Commission.
Talking about their experiences of Investors in Peopleand how it has benefited their organisations, ContiTech Beattie and Geoplan Spatial Intelligence were filmed as part of an event celebrating 20 years of the framework.
A key note speaker at the ExCeL based event, John Taylor from Geoplan said:
“It has helped us survive, if it wasn’t for Investors in People and embedding that into the way that we work, I wouldn’t be here today. In 2008 the recession had bitten again and we had done everything we could to keep the business afloat… disaster was looming. But because we had… Investors in People I was able to stand in front of my people and say that they wouldn’t lose their jobs if we held our shape and stuck to what we were doing. And that’s what we did and that’s why I am stood here today.
“As speak to you now our profits are 25%, our turnover is £1.6m and all of our people are safely employed.“
Tom Henderson, Business Unit Manager at ContiTech Beattie was also at the event and features in the film:
“We use [Investors in People] very much as a framework to build our employee development on, which has worked very well for us to identify training needs that match the people and also the business need.
“[To succeed] You need buy-in from your employees and they need to recognise that there is a path and a route for them to develop their skills in the business. Investors in People gives you that.“
