Fitness Guru proving that Skinnypigs can fly

A Sunderland-born entrepreneur is looking to spearhead a health revolution with his new fitness programme, and help Wearside women to shed seasonal pounds in a jiffy.

Jonathan Hair, 29 and from South Hylton, has created Skinnypigs Women’s Fitness Class, which runs at numerous locations across Sunderland, including Platinum Dance Studio in Roker.

As a self-confessed health and fitness fanatic, Jonathan created the Skinnypigs programme after many years working in gyms and personal training allowed him to see the impact that

High Intensity Interval Training (H.I.I.T) had on women’s fitness. Combining this with body sculpting elements and a relaxed, fun training environment, the Skinnypigs system was born.

Jonathan Hair, director and creator of Skinnypigs, said: “Of course, other programmes like Zumba are extremely popular across the globe at the moment, but since I launched Skinnypigs in 2011 I’ve been absolutely overwhelmed by the response we’ve had locally, with attendance rates that are outstripping some Zumba classes in the city.

“The women who use the classes are testament to the fact that it’s a more effective weight-loss programme than anything else that is out there. By building in elements of H.I.I.T, attendees get intensive resistance exercise as well as calorie-burning movement that you won’t see elsewhere. H.I.I.T is shown to burn up to five times as much as dancing and jogging, meaning that you can arguably get as much of a workout from two Skinnypigs sessions as you would from five other popular classes.”

As demand has increased, Jonathan has added more classes meaning that he now runs double sessions every night of the week, and attracts attendees from across the North East region, with some women travelling from as far as Billingham to participate.

Danielle White, 24 and from South Shields, has been attending Skinnypigs for 12 months, and after losing 4 stone, shifting from a size 22 to a size 14, is amazed by the effect it has had on both her weight and energy levels.

Danielle said: “I’ve tried many different classes over the years and always got bored, but I’m totally hooked on Skinnypigs. I’ve managed to lose over 3 stone over the last year, and I put it all down to the classes. I’ve also made some great friends along the way.”

As well as continuing to add additional sessions, Jonathan is currently kitting out devoted followers with a unique Skinnypigs clothing range, and preparing to launch custom-crafted sessions aimed at brides and grooms who want to get in shape for their big day, and men who want to achieve a ripped look.
