Bristol Airport crowned top for business travellers
Bristol Airport has been named the top airport for business travellers at the Business Travel Awards this week.
An independent panel of judges, including travel managers from major organisations such as EADS, Alcatel-Lucent, Tesco, HSBC and E.ON were impressed by Bristol’s proactive approach to corporate customers.
A dedicated sales team works with businesses and agents across the South West to develop the airport’s services in line with what business passengers need.
Offerings include a dedicated newsletter for business travellers, the introduction of free Wi-Fi internet access in the terminal, and plans for a business friendly boarding gate.
The airport fought off competition from London City, Gatwick, Birmingham and Manchester to claim the award in front of 1,200 travel industry guests at London’s Grosvenor House.
Robert Sinclair, Chief Executive Officer, at Bristol Airport, said: “This Award is recognition for the relationships we have built with organisations across the South West, and would not have been possible without their support.
“We will continue to develop our product for business travellers, working with airlines to offer the routes and frequencies required by the region’s businesses.”
Bristol Airport handled 5.7 million passengers in 2011, with around 15% travelling on business.
CIBT, specialists in business visas and passports, also fared well on the night, picking up Best Specialist Business Travel Product Provider.
Mike Toynbee, chair of the judging panel, commented: “We were very impressed with the detail and creativity that went into the composition of all the entries, the initial judging of entries to reach the shortlist was no easy task.
“Thank you to everyone who took the time and effort to submit an entry - the standard across the board was incredibly high.”
