Finalists for Greater Manchester Green Business Award announced
The shortlisted candidates for the inaugural Greater Manchester Green Business Award have been announced.
Award organisers, the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and ENWORKS, the environmental business support service unveiled the finalists following a tough shortlisting process.
Among those in the running are manufacturers, architects, a shopping centre, a hotel and a higher education institution.
Overall winners in the Large Business and Small/Medium Business categories will be announced at the Chamber’s Annual Dinner on March 8 at Manchester Central Convention Complex.
The judging panel will comprise lead officer of Greater Manchester Environment Commission and chief executive Oldham Council, Charlie Parker; chief executive of Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, Clive Memmott; chair of Greater Manchester LEP; programmes director at ENWORKS, Samantha Nicholson; and director of Low-Carbon Policy and Programmes at Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, Todd Holden.
Clive Memmott, commented: “We had a great response to our call for entries before Christmas and the task of narrowing down the shortlists to six in each category was not an easy one.
“It has been inspiring to see how many businesses and organisations in Greater Manchester are already taking significant steps to embed environmental sustainability throughout their operations.
“This new award gives us the perfect platform for celebrating forward-thinking organisations in Greater Manchester that really understand the business case for becoming more resource efficient.”
This year’s trophies are sponsored by the North West Fund for Energy and Environmental, which provides equity finance from £50,000 to £2m to SMEs based in, or relocating to the North West.
