Double contract win for health and safety consultancy

A North East health and safety consultancy have secured two high profile contract wins, expanding the firm’s geographical reach.

The first of Steel River Consultants’ new contracts is for Scottish and Southern Electric at its £600m Aldbrough underground gas storage development in East Yorkshire.

Having originally been appointed on the first phase of the project, the team will now return in phase two as CDM Co-ordinator for the front end engineering design stage.

The first part of the project is expected to be complete later in the year, and will see the underground gas storage facility providing additional gas storage within the Humberside area.

Albrough will become the UK’s largest onshore gas storage facility, supporting the national grid and nationwide gas supplies.

The second project will see RSC working on behalf of Siemens VAI on the £30m Redcar blast furnace coal injection project, linked to the restart of the Sahaviriya steel industries Teeside blast furnace.

Graham Tyerman, managing director of Steel River Consultants said: “I am delighted to be able to announce these latest contract wins, which have enabled Steel River Consultants to continue its expansion.

“We are pleased to be involved with such pioneering schemes which will showcase the high level of expertise that SRC can offer and provide great benefits for the end user.”

Speaking of SRC’s work at Aldbrough, Richard Hanson, project manager at Scottish and Southern Electric added: “Graham and his team to date have provided the project at Aldbrough with excellent support, demonstrating the breadth and depth of subject knowledge required by a project of this complexity and size.”
