Established company gives new enterprise a ‘leg up’

In these tough economic times, North East-based Phoenix Training & Development Ltd is doing its bit to help by reaching out to a new start-up company, Castle Education & Training Ltd. The partnership allows both companies to expand what they can offer, and Phoenix hopes that this example will inspire more established companies to use their knowledge and experience for the benefit of up-and-coming enterprises.

Phoenix T & D Ltd has been operating successfully for three years, offering a portfolio of qualifications in Management, Coaching, Mentoring and Assessing. The company has delivered training both nationally and internationally, including to military personnel under the Ministry of Defence’s Career Transition Partnership.

“We were looking to expand what we do,” said Peter Davison, co-director of Phoenix T & D Ltd. “Then we met Castle Education and Training Ltd at an event, and after hearing about what they wanted to do, we felt it would be beneficial for everyone if we worked together.”

Mark Hudson of Castle added, “This has been amazing for us. If we’d had to start from scratch, it would have taken twice as long and been very expensive. Having an experienced company offer to help has given us a real head start. It’s a great opportunity.”

Castle Education & Training specialises in delivering teacher training and professional development programmes for various organisations. The partnership with Phoenix has created a complimentary suite of qualifications, including a combined programme of Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) and the full Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement. Both companies intend to reach a wider range of people, including teaching and training professionals, graduates, workplace assessors and verifiers and those thinking about changing their careers, particularly those over 50.
