Rock School Launch Four Groups In West Midlands

A national award-winning rock and pop school is expanding into the West Midlands to enable young people to pick up an instrument or microphone and perform.

School of Rock & Pop, which currently runs weekly music sessions throughout the North East, North West and Yorkshire, will officially launch in Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, Wolverhampton and Leamington Spa from March.

Official launch events will be held free-of-charge for young people, aged 11 to 18, to come and experience what it is like to be in a band at each of the four new venues between March 5th to 15th.

Launch events

Monday March 5th, 7.00pm: Woodrush High School, Shawhurst Lane, Hollywood, Birmingham, B47 5JW.

Monday March 12th, 7.00pm: Aylesford School, Shelley Avenue, Warwick, CV34 6LA.

Tuesday March 13th, 7.00pm: Bishop Vesey’s School, Lichfield Road, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, B74 2NH.

Thursday March 15th, 7.00pm: Aldersley High School, Barnhurst Lane, Codsall, Wolverhampton, WV8 1RT.

Two and a half hour sessions will run weekly at each of the centres during school term time over a twelve week period following the launch.

School of Rock & Pop was established in 2005 by Andrew Meadowcroft and Keith Peberdy, who has worked with a number of rock and pop stars including Sting, The Rolling Stones and Robbie Williams.

Mr Meadowcroft, said: “We are delighted to announce our exciting expansion into the West Midlands with the launch of four new groups. “We are calling on all potential rock and pop stars to come along to one of our launch events and experience firsthand what it is like to perform and learn new skills whilst having fun.

“We believe anyone can be taught to play an instrument or perform, so even if you have never strung a guitar but want to learn come and join the band.

“The build-up to the launch of the new groups in the region and support has been overwhelming. Due to the pre-launch popularity we have already grown our creative team and employed a number of new members of staff to ensure all musicians and singers can reach their full potential.”

The out-of-school group provides a safe, enjoyable and engaging environment for young musicians to develop their instrumental and vocal skills whilst building confidence and making new friends.

Places are still available for all groups but are limited due to demand. All newcomers can enjoy a free taster session on their first visit.
