Behind the business with TTG

Team Telecom Group (TTG) is a specialist in the global telecommunications industry, providing telecoms solutions. CEO Mike Norfield takes Bdaily behind the business.

What key challenges has your company recently faced?

The main challenge is the current economic situation caused by the global recession. In the current climate, very few companies can rely on the UK market for their growth and with the challenges facing the Eurozone; companies should also look further afield for new business opportunities. We’re now exporting to countries such as China, Indonesia and the USA, enabling us to build our sales. As a result of this, we have faced another challenge in integrating different cultures from around the world into the business.

What is your biggest achievement over the past 12 months?

The biggest achievement was the MBO (extracting TTG from a PLC) in the present economic situation. As well as this, through R&D we have continued to bring new innovative product developments into the global telecommunications market over the last 12 months.

What is your biggest focus for the coming year?

Within our industry Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) is the latest cutting-edge technology and our main focus is to deliver DMR technology to a worldwide market across a range of sectors.

We also plan to access new geographic markets where we do not already have a presence; opening doors to new customers in existing markets, and helping us access new sectors in additional global markets.

If you had to choose one top piece of advice for someone just starting out in business, or is currently operating within your industry sector, what would it be?

The most important business advice is to retain focus on your goals, believe in yourself and have confidence in your vision. In terms of the manufacturing industry, my advice would be to invest in R&D, develop new technologies that are cutting-edge and will push the boundaries. Finally, I would recommend investing in the next generation through an apprenticeship programme to ensure successful growth of your business in the future.

Can you share with us your view of the current landscape of business, in this region or generally and where your organisation sits within it?

We are a medium size player in a global market competing with large well-funded established businesses. We heavily invest in R&D to ensure we provide cutting edge telecoms solutions to organisations around the globe. We pride ourselves on the expertise of our employees, and our reputation for delivering bespoke communications solutions, including mission critical systems, to organisations in sectors ranging from the emergency services, utilities and transport to the public sector, oil and gas.
