Take advantage of £200bn energy investment say NOF

North East businesses in the oil, gas, nuclear and offshore renewables sector are being encouraged to take advantage of the anticipated £200 billion investment in the UK’s energy infrastructure.

Over the course of the next decade, around £200 billion of energy investment is expected to take place as new nuclear and more renewable power sources in remote, costal and offshore locations are connected to the National Grid.

Now, NOF Energy, the business development organisation for the energy industry is calling on firms in the sector to ensure they are equipped to deliver necessary services to take advantage of the impending investment.

George Rafferty, Chief Executive of NOF Energy, said: “The £200 billion investment required to deliver the country’s future energy infrastructure presents some real opportunities for the UK supply chain.

“Operators and Project Managers will need to draw on the expertise, experience and innovative approach of suppliers to ensure the infrastructure is in place to meet European Union and UK Government energy targets.

Industry leaders are set to come together to address these issues on the 7 March at the NOF Energy conference, entitled ‘Energy: a Balanced Future’. The event will address the importance of securing a balanced energy mix in the UK to meet future targets through a supportive and effective cross-sector supply chain.

Speakers will include executives from EDF Energy, Areva, Seimens, Wood Group PSN and AMEC, who will discuss the future of the energy sectors served by a multi-skilled, adaptable, integrated supply chain.

It is hoped that the event will allow attendees to understand the challenges and future prospects over the next couple of decades in the existing and emerging energy sectors.

Mr Rafferty continued: “NOF Energy members have these attributes in abundance, but supply chain companies have to be aware the requirements of multiple energy streams and how they can adapt their business and services to meet these challenges.

“The major organisations speaking at our conference, are keen to work with quality suppliers and I urge those in this region to step up to the mark and take the opportunities that will be presented to them.”
