Fabulous Baker Brothers on Menu at Bishop Auckland

TV Stars - The Fabulous Baker Brothers - will be joining members of the TasteDurham Award Scheme and other producers and food champions from across the UK at the 2012 Bishop Auckland Food Festival which is returning to the region on the 21st April.

The Fabulous Baker Brothers, who have inspired people to get into the kitchen with their brand new Channel 4 show, will be special guests at the Bishop Auckland Food Festival where they will talk about setting up their businesses, their food experiences and becoming TV stars! The brothers will also be signing copies of their new book and answering questions from audience members. Later in the day they will be doing a live cookery demonstration from the Durham Marriott Celebrity Kitchen.

Amongst the fabulous array of stalls to tempt visitor’s taste buds will be members of TasteDurham - a national standard awarded by Visit England to businesses based on their menu, quality of food and use of locally sourced produce - who are part of the festival for the very first time this year. Their stalls will include: Oldfields, who offer delicious locally sourced gourmet prepared meals; Café 1618 with their Teesdale Lead Miners Pasty; Broom House Farm Shop, who will be offering a selection of locally reared meats; and Knitsley Farm Shop, with their selection of hampers packed with local treats.

As well as the TasteDurham businesses there will be a host of other culinary delights including artisan bread, charcuterie, organic wines, award-winning cheese, seafood, meat and game and a regional market offering a ‘taste of Wales’.

Kate James, festivals and events manager at Visit County Durham, said: “It is really exciting that The Fabulous Baker Brothers will be headlining this year’s food festival. The mouth-watering selection of the finest regional and national produce alongside a quality mix of excellent entertainment is sure to delight visitors!”
