Riches from Rags for Local Football Team
Astley, the leading signage and print manufacturer is looking local by choosing to make a charitable donation to a popular under 16s football team.
Gateshead Redheugh 1957 Football Club is benefitting from Astley’s donation of their obsolete workwear following the company rebranding at the turn of the year.
The club, now in their 55th year, work in partnership with Enviroclothes who take old clothing of any kind and recycle the items. The old Astley branded clothing will be sorted and then sent to textile wholesalers who distribute the items to emerging nations where they are sold. In return, Enviroclothes make a financial donation to Gateshead Redheugh 1957 Football Club.
Club Secretary, Glenn Stewart, commented, “This is a huge boost for our club as we rely on local businesses and individuals to support us. The money from the donated clothing will enable us to develop our teams further and buy much needed training equipment.”
In addition to the clothing, Astley also manufactured and installed signage for their new clubhouse and changing facility which was officially opened by Newcastle United Manager, Alan Pardew, on Thursday 26th January 2012.
The club which has 17 teams in total ranging from under 7s to under 16s and play in the Gateshead Appollo Doors League and the Russell Foster league.
