Orange Bus completes innovative Pearson product

A Newcastle based creative agency has finally completed the design and build of a new interactive learning platform for learning company Pearson.

Orange Bus won the tender to deliver the new ActiveLearn platform after demonstrating the team’s expertise in the field of user experience.

The ActiveLearn product provides teachers with a bank of exercises which will help students build skills and abilities, combined with a set of tools to monitor progress and manage classes more easily.

The product will now go live in April, after receiving excellent feedback from over 40 trial schools.

Mike Parker, director at Orange Bus commented: “As the users are both teachers and students, there are two very different audience types to satisfy with ActiveLearn.

“Our expertise in creating and building engaging, aesthetically pleasing sites which are shaped for the people who will use them, has stood us in good stead.”

Research indicated that students wanted cleaner designs, interactivity and relatable language, while the teachers surveyed cared less about image and focussed more on clarity and ease of use.

Using this information, Orange Bus created a product catering to both sets of users to create a product to motivate students and develop skills in a fun and engaging way.

The team also worked closely with Pearson to build a team-wide understanding of the project goals, the audience and areas for development.

The online learning platform currently offers help for GCSE courses but will soon be expanded to include further learning materials for both KS3 and at A-level.
