Tees Valley entrepreneurs to receive key business advice

Some of the North East’s top business figures are set to share their expertise with Teesside entrepreneurs at a series of workshops to be held in April.

North East Access to Finance (NEA2F) have organised the event in partnership with DCB ventures as part of its Routes to Investment initiative. Guest speakers at the event will be on hand to offer attendees their experience and advice to young businesses looking to source funding.

Alan Holmes, project director for NEA2F, said: “Creating a winning business proposition can require skills with which a lot of budding and even existing entrepreneurs might not be familiar.“These workshops provide a wonderful and cost effective opportunity for attendees to pick the brains of people who have a thorough understanding and considerable experience of what’s required.”

Each of the six sessions, which will be held at Boho One Middlesbrough, will deal with an essential business process and will be led by experts from each particular field.

Topics to be covered will include Foundation Planning; Getting to Market and Winning Business; Building and Leading an Effective Team; Effective Funding, Tax and Exit Strategies and Legal Compliance and Protection. The programme will end with a concluding pitch, coaching and practice session.

Mr Holmes added: “This is now a proven, successful series of workshops that truly differs from previous initiatives, because young and ambitious businesses will have the opportunity to put their business plans in front of the people who hold the purse strings. “Indeed we have set ourselves an objective that, at the very least, two of the participants will achieve investment in their businesses as a result of what they will learn.”
