Local Photographer Celebrates Second International Win
North East based photographer Laura Jane Vest is celebrating a second high profile photography award this month. She has beaten over 6,300 world wide entries to take the Runner Up award in the Digital Photographer of The Year Awards.
“I was so surprised to have won a second award in such short succession. I was still celebrating being second place Digital Portrait Photographer of The Year! I think the bigest surprise is the sheer number of entries that the competition attracted.”
It was Laura’s shot of Winter Trees taken in the Riverside Park at her home town of Chester-le-Street that caught the judges eye.
Laura is now looking forward to presenting a new project in the form of her first solo photographic exhibition in May at Gateshead Old Town Hall. “I have exhibited my work in many galleries but have never had my own solo show, so I was thrilled when I was approached. It’s an exciting prospect for me and a challenge I am eager to get started with. At this stage the theme is a bit of a secret, so I guess you will have to watch this space!”
