DC Presidents First season kicks off

This month sees the countries newest American Football team begin its first season in the British American Football National League. Local team the DC Presidents, short for Durham County, have been accepted into the nationwide league of 50 clubs after completing its associate year and will play its game in Division 2 Central along with six other clubs Restarted only a year ago the club has gone from strength to strength and has secured the use of Durham’s Esh Stadium, next to Soccarena, as its home base. Five regular season home games will be played there and fans can expect an exciting game as well as covered seating, hot food and refreshments, match commentary and entertainment. The team has grown to around 65 players and nine coaches who come from all over the region from Alnwick in the North to Catterick in the south and hopes that a full year of training will pay off when it starts its ten game season on the 15thApril travelling down to RAF Cranwell to face the Lincolnshire Bombers. The team also has a junior club as well that will see action this summer and is looking to expend into local schools to set up feeder teams. The last time the Presidents played in Esh stadium, which was last July, they attracted over 1000 fans to watch a game and are aiming to grow this over the next few months. The VIP section offers fans the full game experience with half way line seats and a pre match meal as well as access to an exclusive VIP lounge area. With over 300 seats and 2500 standing the venue is seen as one of the best in the country for American Football games.
