Music charity is right on song
A NORTH EAST Public Relations agency has donated over £500 worth of office equipment and pledged its time free of charge to help swell the coffers of a music-based cancer charity.
Music v Cancer has raised £83,000 to date to buy vital equipment to help in the detection of bowel cancer in the Teesside area by hosting music nights, online auctions of music memorabilia and from match-funding.
And it is pushing forward with the help of Publicity Seekers PR to raise awareness of bowel cancer and boost its coffers further.
Founder Tony Larkin was delighted with the new state-of-the-art printer and accessories and plans to use it to help promote their up-coming acoustic nights at The Grand Hotel in Hartlepool.
He said: “We are absolutely delighted that Publicity Seekers has chosen us as its nominated charity for this year and can’t thank the team enough for the new printer, it’s really going to help us.
“They are a business who are big into their live music so when we approached them, they were more than happy to get on board.”
Staff at Publicity Seekers, which is based at Queens Meadow in Hartlepool, were impressed by the professional production of the music evenings.
Publicity Seekers director Samantha Lee said: “I went along to one of these events as a punter and was blown away by what a great night it was. It was so professionally run and had such a great atmosphere. It’s a really good night for music lovers.
“When Tony asked if we would be interested in getting involved we were more than happy to. All of the money raised goes directly to the charity as there’s a great team of volunteers with professional backgrounds who all help with the running of it under Tony’s guidance and drive.”
Singer songwriter David McAlmont headlined Music v Cancer’s last show alongside Guy Davies, with support from Black and Jono McCleery.
Tony said: “We have had some fantastic artists on to date including Scott Matthews, Karima Francis and Jon Allen, who have all absolutely loved playing here.
“We have fantastic support from the public and these nights are always a sell-out with people coming back time and time again.”
Music v Cancer’s next gig is Friday, June 15 at The Grand Hotel, Hartlepool when Phil Campbell will be headlining along with Ryan Spendlove, Jimmy Docherty & Emily Baker.
Tony added: “We hope people continue to get on board and really help us make Music v Cancer a success. If they could check us out on Facebook and Twitter then they will be able to see what gigs we have coming up and what prizes are on offer in our auctions and online raffles.”
As well as the gigs, Tony has collected over 200 pieces of music memorabilia, which he plans to raffle online including guitars signed by Kasabian, the Kaiser Chiefs and The Who legend Roger Daltrey.
