Health & Wellbeing at Hankinson Painting Group
Having achieved success in their Investors in People reaccreditation, the Hankinson Painting Group have become the first Painting Contractor to be recognised with the Health and Wellbeing Award from Investors in People in the North of England.
The Award covers a number of different workplace issues including five core areas: planning, supportive management, supportive culture, work life balance and evaluation.
It recognises that workplace wellbeing is not about telling people how to live their lives or additional health and safety scrutiny - health and wellbeing can often be improved by understanding organisational weaknesses and introducing preventative measures.
Hankinson Painting Group’s long standing commitment and embedded ethos to ensure staff and contractors develop healthy lifestyles and make the most of opportunities available were reflected in their assessor’s report.
“It was clear that Hankinson Painting Group employed like-minded people who gave equal weight to providing a good, professional service for the customers and to enjoying a fulfilling life outside the work environment. Staff commented that they looked forward to coming to work. They felt they were doing a worthwhile job and making a contribution for the benefit of the business and its long term viability”.
A number of initiatives had been run by the company including a “5 A Day Campaign” where fresh fruit was provided to all staff.
Group Chief Executive Stephen Hankinson said:
“Health and wellbeing is at the top of our priorities. At the Hankinson Painting Group we believe that getting this right contributes directly to the performance of our people. To have our efforts recognised with this Award is significant and a reflection of the hard work that goes in”.
