Manchester entrepreneurs give advice to budding businesspeople
Two entrepreneurial businesswomen from Manchester are sharing the secrets of their success at a major national business event, taking place at Manchester Central on 8 and 9 June.
Sissy Rooney and Sarah Cross are delivering keynote addresses at the Growing Your Own Business Conference taking place at The British Franchise Exhibition.
Sissy, who is behind one of the leading providers of creative workshops in the UK, is delivering a talk entitled: Hard graft and Eureka moments - how I built my business from the street up.
Sissy is founder of the Street Style Surgery, an award-winning social enterprise organisation that provides workshops teaching new skills and boosting the confidence of young people. These range from body popping to fashion design, music production to film-making, business and enterprise workshops. Together with her team, Sissy has worked with over 1,000 young people to date, as well as organisations including Manchester City Council, Barnardos and Lancashire County Council.
Sarah Cross, Managing Director of Uber and North West Business Woman of the Year 2011, will explain why the customer is the most precious asset of any business in her talk: The holy grail of customer engagement - how to win the hearts minds and wallets of your customers.
Sarah will detail why winning customers has never been harder and how engaging with customers and staff is key to growing a business. Her valuable advice includes creating virtual communities and tapping into customers’ social circles to maximise engagement, awareness and revenue.
Sarah set up Uber in 2008 as she spotted a gap in the market for a specialist loyalty consultancy that is independent of technology and combines technical expertise with creative knowledge. Her clients include Diesel, ghd, Mersey Travel and The Children’s Mutual.
