Money saving tips from Deal Jungle

Invest In SEO For Long Term Savings

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the key to getting your website to the top of the search engines and any online business should aim to rank on the first page of a Google search for relevant key terms. Fail to do this andyou might as well not exist.

By investing in SEO early on you can steadily build your Google ranking and could save a small fortune in the future in direct marketing costs.

Pay When Successful By Using Commission

Salaries, incentives, training costs, fringe benefits and expenses add up when you’re hiring your own sales representatives. Why not contact independent manufacturers’ sales reps, paid on commission only? This means less long term financial commitments have to be made and your sales force is highly incentivised to deliver the goods. You pay more when you sell more, simple as that.

Minimise Legal Disputes

Avoiding legal action can be a big factor in business success. Remember, when the lawyers get involved things can become extremely costly.

The best alternative is to try and work out any problems before they develop into legal action. Never ignore any written or phone complaints and most importantly check your contracts and terms of sale early on (using a lawyer if necessary) to ensure there are no areas for dispute in the future.

Time your payments

One of the most frustrating issues faced by suppliers is a delayed or late payment, so if you’re a reliable payer then why not ask suppliers if they give discounts for early payment.

If not, it can work to your advantage to pay your bills-including utilities, taxes and suppliers-as late as possible, without incurring a fee. The longer funds are under your control the longer they’re earning a return for you rather than someone else. Of course it goes without saying that by ‘as late as possible’ will always need to be within the pre-agree terms.

Get a Social Media Strategy

What’s the single best thing about using social media to promote your business? Is it the ability to reach and engage with thousands, even millions, of potential customers across the world? No, it’s the fact that it’s totally free, making it one of the most cost effective ways to promote your company.

At DealJungle we have noted that as our Twitter account increases followers there has been a steady rise in natural search traffic to the site. Social media now accounts for 15% of site traffic, which should lead to further increases in natural search click-throughs.

For those that have yet to embrace social media it really is time to get a presence and develop it. If you don’t fancy doing this yourself there are a wealth of companies speciaising in this activity. The nature of commerce is changing, save your money and make sure you don’t get left behind.
