Barratt Homes report strong spring sales
Barratt Homes have reported their strongest spring selling season for five years.
Net private reservations were up 25.3% against 2011, driven by higher sales rates per site and increased site numbers. Average selling prices were also up during the period to £202,000, reflecting continuing positive changes.
Commenting on the figures, Mark Clare, Group Chief Executive of Barratt Developments said: “Our overall pricing levels have been maintained and average weekly net private reservations in the period are up 25% compared to last year.
“As a result we’re ahead on achieving our objectives of improving profitability and reducing net debt.”
Barratt now hope to benefit from the various government initiatives which continue to provide support to the industry, despite the uncertain economic outlook.
Barratt are currently working on 397 sites, up from 374 in the same period last year. The company now expects to purchase 10,000 plots over the course of the current financial year.
They have also received strong interest in the Government’s NewBuy scheme to help potential housebuilders. Since the scheme was launched in the 12 March around 70 customers have used it to reserve homes.
