Regional video game company reveals dancing video

Video game publisher and developer, Ubisoft Reflections Ltd have tried an innovative method of attracting new recruits.

The Newcastle based company have put together an eye-catching video with characters dancing across various iconic sites in the North East.

It aims to celebrate the region’s strong creative industries sector, and also promote the area as a great place to live.

The video is themed around the firm’s popular ‘Just Dance’ game for the PlayStation 3, as just one of the universally received games produced in the region.

Ubisoft are hoping the fun video will help to promote 24 new roles they are currently recruiting for.

Some of the roles include online game designer, audio programmer, international recruiter and senior online programmer, among others.

General manager, Giselle Stewart, said: “We had an amazing time making Just Dance 3 for the PS Move and wanted to share some of that energy with our fans.

“We decided to make an off the wall video celebrating the games success’, using local landmarks to reinforce the fact that this game was made in the North-East - showing that fun, the North-East, and successful video games go together!”

Simon Cooper, technical lead level designer at Ubisoft, and also a prominent dancer in the video, added: “I wanted to take part in the Dancing Devs video because, while I know I’m a terrible dancer, I really do love to dance.

“I’m always keen to be involved in things going on around the studio and I thought it would be a lot of fun filming a video celebrating dancing and Newcastle.

“There’s always fun things going on! You don’t have to look far to find people with common interests - whether it’s gaming, comics, 5-a-side or just heading out to town on a Friday night.”

The video was edited and directed by students from Sunderland University, and other local people were involved. You can take a look here.
