Tax avoiders

Several major British firms have arranged secret deals with authorities in Luxembourg to avoid paying UK corporation tax, according to a BBC investigation.

Some of the companies saved up to £34 million pounds in corporation tax in the process. The findings indicate that there are jurisdictions abroad who are prepared to help UK tax avoiders, but also that the problem is a bigger one than previously anticipated. While tax is a major gripe of many businesses, their contribution plays a vital part in the UK economy.
