Economic upturn on the horizon, suggests report
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development have published research that suggests an economic upturn could be around the corner.
The composite leading indicators (CLIs) report points towards above trend growth, showing stronger positive signals compared to last month’s assessment.
Compared to last month’s assessment, the CLIs for Japan and the United States show stronger signs of improvements in economic activity, pointing towards an expansion.
In the Euro area, the CLIs for France and Italy continue to point to sluggish economic activity below long term trend, although the CLIs for Germany and most other Euro area economies show slightly more positive signals.
Emma Jones, co-founder of StartUp Britain, said: “News that a turning point in the economy is just around the corner provides enormous opportunity and incentive for the UK’s budding entrepreneurs and will give them the confidence to get out there and set up orgrow their business with renewed vigour.
“Optimism plays a huge role in the life of an energetic self-starter and so signs that things are improving economically here should hopefully trigger some bright sparks into action.”
The news comes after the OECD recently recommended more relaxed EU budget rules to stimulate growth.
