Procurement consortium launch social housing framework
A procurement consortium in the East Midlands has launched a framework to tackle the growing need for social housing over the next four years
Efficiency East Midlands (EEM) will allow members to benefit from savings, an established supply chain and services procured by the consortium, according to 24dash.com
Support in the framework will include the demolition of low, medium and high rise dwellings, provision of architectural design services, including design of external works and new new build developer help.
EEN already has 16 members, and a housing stock of more than 134,000 properties across the area.
EEM Managing Director Pete Smith said: “Last year the Government called on social housing providers to show just how it planned to manage, maintain and refurbish its housing stock over the next 30 years.
The framework also requires that contractors must also look at the most viable options for local employment, and will be required to take on apprentices to support the programme.
Mr Smith continued: “As a not-for-profit organisation, dedicated to serving housing providers and their tenants, it is vital that we consider the impact we can have on local communities.
“A truly positive effect can be achieved through the procurement process, and I believe we are providing each of our members with the best possible value for money, both for their budgets and communities alike.”
