Endeavour advises on pub acquisitions

At a time when, on average, 12 pubs close every week, the Endeavour Partnership has advised on six pub acquisitions over the last six months.

The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) recently published its research on national pub closures over the period September 2011 to March 2012. It found that most areas of the country have seen the number of pubs decrease. However, the North East is bucking that trend with Cleveland, North Yorkshire, Northumberland and Tyne & Wear having no closures between them and, in fact, three out of the four regions have seen the opening of new pubs.

The acquisitions on which the Endeavour Partnership has acted include the multiple purchases by a local company of various trading sites from an administrator; a number of acquisitions of vacant pub buildings with a view to refurbishment and reopening following re-branding and also negotiating complex lease arrangements.

Jamie Brown, partner in Endeavour’s property team, comments:

“The results of CAMRA’s survey are reflected in our experience of the sector as we have seen the number of pubs increase locally. Our structure, comprising multi-disciplinary teams, enables us to act in the acquisition of all types of trading businesses ranging from public houses to multi-million pound corporate acquisitions.”
