Youth aspirations

The Prime Minister is today set to announce plans for an £82 million loan scheme for young people looking to set up their own business.

The fund, which was established in response to an enterprise review which showed that the UK would have 900,000 more businesses if it had the same rate of entrepreneurship as the US. Many individuals are unaware of the opportunities which entrepreneurship offers, and it is hoped that this fund will incentivise youth innovation.

But is it being offered early enough? The fund is directed at 18-24 year olds, many of whom have no clue about being entrepreneurial. So should entrepreneurship be integrated into the school curriculum as a way of encouraging young people to raise their aspirations?
