Having a rethink
The UK needs “action to match the rhetoric”, according to Richard Branson who has criticised the Government for failing to invest in business.
The business tycoon told the Observer that the Government needs to get behind small and medium businesses, whilst also focussing on reducing employment and rejuvenating the UK’s entrepreneurial spirit. This is a big u-turn for the former Tory advocate, who previously championed the Chancellors economic plans prior to the last election. He has been joined by other major business figures who have called on the Government to re-focus on growth.
So does this indicate that the Government really has lost its way? Disappointing growth figures last week were the latest in a series of poor economic statistics, which show little signs of improving. While the difficulties in the Eurozone are no doubt having a damaging effect on our economy, is the Government doing enough to promote growth?
What do you think?
