Nicholson’s Transport celebrates its own jubilee

JUBILEE fever has come to a North East warehouse and distribution firm as it celebrates its own silver anniversary.

Nicholson’s Transport is 25 years old this month and to highlight the occasion has decked out one if its vehicles in patriotic red, white and blue.

The eye-catching Union Jack vehicle will take pride of place in the Nicholson’s 15-strong fleet as it takes to the roads of the United Kingdom.

Managing Director David Nicholson said: “When we looked at the calendar for 2012 we realised there were three big events happening this summer – the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the Olympics, and our own 25thanniversary.

“It’s a summer to be proud to be British and what better way to celebrate than have Union Jack livery on one of our vehicles. The Nicholson’s colours have always been red, white and blue and it’s certainly caused a positive reaction amongst staff and customers.

“The Mercedes Actros articulated lorry will travel around 50,000 miles this summer and is beginning to get recognised out on the road. It is a wonderful ambassador for Nicholson’s Transport.”

The business was founded in June 1987 by David Nicholson with just one Ford flat-back lorry delivering timber to builder’s merchants across Teesside. The business now boasts 32 staff and is a founder member of the nationwide Hazchem and Pallet Networks, delivering goods across the UK and Ireland.

Mr Nicholson added: “I’m very proud to have led the business to its 25th anniversary. We have a growing North East-based logistics and warehousing business which is a leader in transporting hazardous and dangerous goods. We have a few celebrations lined up over the summer and it’s thanks to our customers, suppliers and staff that we have a thriving business after a quarter of a century.”
