First LinkedIn, now Last.fm and eHarmony
Following the news that hackers had leaked six million LinkedIn password onto the internet, reported by Bdaily on Wednesday, two more online websites have had security breaches.
The music website Last.fm understands that “some” of its members passwords had been leaked, reports BBC News.
The internet dating website eHarmony also admitted this week that a number of passwords had been compromised.
With three websites with large member databases being hacked in the past week, this creates an uncertainty about how our data is kept safe.
Bdaily advises readers to use a different password for each site, this way if your password is ever compromised then just one of your many online guises will be affected. If you use the same password across email, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Bdaily, etc you may find that hackers can compromise each of these accounts.
In the meantime, if you are a user of LinkedIn, Last.fm or eHarmony, we recommend that you change your password immediately to be on the safe side.
Also, be wary of emails from the likes of LinkedIn (as well as traditional spam emails from ‘banks’). If you don’t trust the content within an email, don’t click on the links or fill in any details. If you want to access the website, visit directly through your web browser.
