The Gallery at St George’s House will open its doors for the first time during Bolton Festival of the Arts and showcase five of the finest local contemporary artists.

The first exhibition, which is entitled ‘A New Conversation’, will celebrate the artists’ work that has been created especially for the gallery that is housed in the recently regenerated St George’s House, on St George’s Road in the town.

The free-of-charge exhibition will launch on Saturday June 16thin conjunction with Bolton Festival of the Arts and will run until August 28th.

The five handpicked artists - Jason Simpson, Scott Devon, Ross Davis, Margaret Jackson and David Jackson – have all been collaborating at the neo:studios within Bolton.

Emma Kelly, curator at the gallery, said: “Expect an eclectic exciting mix ranging from painting, drawing, and sculpture to flash fiction and poetry, a mix that is designed to both stimulate and fascinate visitors.”

“The Gallery at St George’s House is a new creative space to Bolton, dedicated to celebrating the work of local and regional artists.”

The exquisite St George’s House has been undergoing a major £1.5m restoration project by regeneration specialist and commercial developer Python Properties.

The iconic five storey building, which was originally built in 1908 and was formerly the NHS Prescription Pricing Authority, has been transformed into high quality office and business space with an art gallery and bistro.

The gallery will be opened between 10am-4pm for the launch weekend on June 16thand 17th. Post launch the gallery will be opened Monday to Saturday 8.30am-3pm.
