Imerja wins Manchester academy treble
Three Manchester academies are to have their internet security services overhauled by local IT solutions specialist, Imerja.
The Manchester Health Academy, Manchester Enterprise Academy and The Co-operative Academy of Manchester have signed three-year contracts that will begin in the coming months. The partnerships aim to reduce IT costs, while providing high security and integrity levels.
Bolton-based Imerja will provide services such as web filtering, spam protection and antivirus software – safeguarding pupils, staff and data from online threats.
The offerings are deliberately granular, to allow for expansion or modification. The solutions are designed to be flexible and user-friendly, enabling IT administrators or teachers to tailor settings to suit the specific needs of the academy, right down to the requirements for a individual class if necessary. There will also be a team of Imerja engineers on hand 24 hours a day, to identify and address high-level IT issues.
The academies have pooled together their purchasing power and knowledge, forming a consortium to inform each other of what products, software and systems work best.
Ian Jackson, managing director at Imerja, commented: “Security in schools is of paramount importance - whether that’s in terms of the physical buildings or web filters and firewalls. But with the current financial pressures, it is often a challenge to balance security with cost for many public institutions.
“Our work with these academies will help them improve and safeguard their IT infrastructure, while crucially saving them money. These partnerships will allow them to retain control of day-to-day security management, but backed with our expertise and support.”
