Koru Property Services secure £800,000 contract

Gateshead-based Koru Property Services have secured a £800,000 contract to double the operating size of a North Yorkshire based electronics specialist.

The firm are now due to begin work at Mowden Controls in Northallerton, which will create an extra 650 metres of work space to its operations. It will also include modernisation and upgrades to their existing workspace.

The project will create 12 on-site jobs for Koru, and will help the firm move a step closer to opening new offices in the south of the region.

The organisation, having completed the design of the new structure, which will allow Mowden to expand its manufacturing and design operations, say they’re excited to be growing their own operations across the region.

Tony Henderson, co-owner of Koru, said: “Mowden is a very ambitious company who have set out some very clear expansion plans, so we’re honoured to have been selected to help them with those.

“Having secured consistent projects beyond the region in the North, we’re very pleased that we have been able to expand Koru’s operations into North Yorkshire now. We’re ambitious ourselves and hope this may be the first of many for us in this part of the world.”

Mowden Controls was established in 1965 and now supplies electronic solutions to a range of organisations across Europe in a number of industries, including instrumentation, measurement and control, medical and laboratories and the oil, gas and chemicals fields. Clients include the likes of global giants such as Johnson Matthey.

Work on the expansion is scheduled to be completed by October. Mowden managing director, Stephen Williams said: “The extension is the next stage in our growth plan. We have an optimistic view of the future and aim to be the best low to medium volume electronic manufacturer in the region and we are creating the capacity to enable us to do that.

“We’re very pleased with the service offered so far by Koru and are looking forward to being able to move into our extended new unit later this year.”
