The Beecroft Report… Our Thoughts

Here at OVCV, our attention has been caught by the recent furore surrounding the recommendations in the Beecroft report, in particular those concerning the easing of employment regulations, so making it easier for employers to dismiss staff who they feel are underperforming or not fitting in with the business.

We know just how important it is for a business to select the right person , especially in the case of small firms or the entrepreneur recruiting for the very first time, where it can be make or break, and our approach is to always look for positive solutions.

We have been delighted to build a bespoke portal for the well respected Northumbria University, to be used by their Science and Engineering faculty. Everyone is aware of how much information we absorb form the visual aspect of our everyday social interaction with others, and by using the OVCV tool, an employer can begin to gain an appreciation of a candidate even before the first interview.

For the graduate too, there are advantages. It can be a little nerve rattling to talk to camera! But we feel that this can help reduce the nerves for that first interview, enabling the candidate to be more relaxed and natural, which, of course, also benefits the employer and may help them to choose the right person for the job; and that has to be the best solution.
