Aviva and Tesco enter into life insurance agreement

Aviva have today announced an exclusive five-year deal with global supermarket Tesco to provide life protection products for UK retail customers.

The five year distribution agreement, which will begin later this year, will cover the sale of core protection products including life insurance and critical illness cover.

Aviva, who provide approximately 43 million customers with insurance, savings and investment products already provide Tesco with a private medical insurance scheme for Tesco’s employees. This deal will mean Tesco customers will be able to choose from a range of insurance policies including simplified life insurance, over 50s life insurance and life insurance with critical illness cover.

David Barral, CEO, Aviva, UK and Ireland Life said: “This relationship, combined with our outstanding record of paying claims, means we will be able to help even more families when it matters most.”

The policies will be available through Tesco bank which was launched in 1997 and now has 6.5 million customer accounts in services including credit cards, savings and personal loans.

Managing Director of Insurance at Tesco Bank Julie hopes said: “Partnering with on of the UK’s leading life protection providers will bring benefits to our customers offering them a range of straightforward and good value products that we believe will give customers the reassurance they look for in life products.”
