Nexus Gives Home From Home to F1 Legend

Leading provider of vehicle supply, outsourced rental management and systems, Nexus Vehicle Rental, provided former F1 World Champion Nigel Mansell with a place to ‘lay his head’ during a recent charity cycle challenge.

The team used its expert rental knowledge and longstanding supplier relationships to obtain a Swift Escape 696 motorhome which followed Nigel and the team of riders as they cycled over 1,300 miles from John O’Groats, via Blackpool Tower, to the Eiffel Tower in aid of charity, UK Youth.

Along with UK Youth supporters Andy Crinson, Paul McCarthy, Dave Hyland and Dane Hyland, Nigel who is also President of the charity, undertook the challenge with the aim of raising £11,000. His epic 12 day journey was made even more difficult by a broken collarbone obtained whilst undertaking a gruelling training schedule, plus a broken toe incident which occurred the day before setting off. Consequently, a place for the team to put their feet up and prepare some warm meals was definitely a welcome addition to the support crew!

Managing Director of Nexus Vehicle Rental, John Ellis, said: “UK Youth is a fantastic charity which provides many opportunities for young people, and we were delighted to be able to help out by sponsoring a motorhome where the team could relax on their journey. One of our clients, AI Claims Solutions, made us aware of the challenge when they also became sponsors and we decided the cyclists might be in need of some home comforts. Cycling more than 1,300 miles is no small task, especially in weather conditions which weren’t particularly favourable so we’d like to think the motorhome provided extra motivation – even if it was in the form of a hot cup of tea!”
