North-East Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards Launch

Excitement is once again mounting with the launch of the thirteenth annual Women into the Network (WIN) North East Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards in Newcastle.

These prestigious awards – which this year focus on the themes of competitiveness and winning to reflect the summer of sport, including the Olympics and Paralympic games – will officially be launching at the DoubleTree by Hilton Newcastle International Airport – which is also sponsoring the event – on Friday, July 27 from 12pm until 2pm.

The launch event will provide an opportunity for female entrepreneurs to learn about the entry process, find out what the judges are looking for and be inspired by past winners and the impact that their achievements have had on them.

Seamus O’Hara, general manager at the DoubleTree by Hilton, said: “We feel very privileged to be holding and sponsoring the launch of this year’s North East Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.

“We believe that anything that promotes women in business is positive, and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone who comes through the doors on the day to find out more about these wonderful awards.”

Julie Drummond, winner of last year’s Susan Dobson Award for Entrepreneurship, will be speaking at the launch event, along with Louise Doyle and Nickie Gott, Chair of WIN and founder of events management company She’s Gott It!

Nickie said: “The annual WIN Awards are hugely important in celebrating the region’s inspirational female success stories.

“We want to encourage as many North East entrepreneurs as possible to attend the launch event at the DoubleTree Hilton and take the opportunity to achieve the recognition they deserve. We have some exciting plans moving forward that will further support the North East’s growing female entrepreneur circle.”

WIN is now calling on sponsors to back the 11 award categories, which include Best Small Business, Young Entrepreneur of the Year and Best Use of Technology, as well as the prestigious Susan Dobson Award for Entrepreneurship.

This year also sees the launch of the new Key Woman of the Year Award, which gives any North East woman working within a business – not necessarily an entrepreneur – the chance to be recognised for playing a key role in the transformation, development or growth of a company.

The awards will be opening for entries from Monday, July 30, with winners to be announced on Friday, November 2. Entries cost £15 + VAT per category and up to two categories may be entered.

Entrants can also access help with their applications in the run-up to the awards during WIN Wednesdays, where they will be given advice on their entry forms.
