Regus offer £20m support for young entrepreneurs

Workspace provider Regus has pledged support and space, worth £20m, for England’s young entrepreneurs.

Regus will offer 6 months free and unlimited use of its Virtual Office, a network of 1,200 business centres worldwide; a business address in a recognised location and mail handling and call answering.

The initiative will complement the Government’s £82.5m StartUp Loans scheme, which will provide small loans of £2,500 to approved young people.

David Cameron welcomed the move, and said: “Enterprise is vital to our country’s future and I welcome the excellent news that Regus are getting behind our young entrepreneurs and helping them get their businesses and ideas off the ground.

“Regus’ support for Startup Loans is a fantastic example of an established and successful company reaching out to help nurture the next generation of British businesses.

“We recently announced that 20 empty Government buildings will become spaces available for start-up businesses and this work continues.”

Steve Purdy, Regus UK MD said: “When the StartUp Loans scheme was announced, it was immediately clear that this was an initiative that Regus should actively support.

“We believe businesses should be investing in the next generation of British entrepreneurs and the future of British business.

“Rather than moaning from the sidelines about what more the Government should do to stimulate growth, we believe it is time business offered some meaningful support - we hope others will follow suit.”

Business and Enterprise Minister Mark Prisk, added: “We want to give young people the best possible chance to start and grow their own enterprise.

“StartUp Loans is not just providing a small amount of funding, but is about looking at the bigger picture and giving access to a full package of business training and mentoring.

“The offer by Regus to provide £20 million of further business support is an added boost to young people looking to get into business.”
