The Mouth of the Tyne Festival approaches

Seminal 70s punk band, The Undertones, are set to kick off the Mouth of The Tyne Festival this weekend as they take to the stage at Whitley Bay Playhouse, for a show that will cover some of the Derry boys influential singles, including Teenage Kicks.

The following day, Sheffield guitarist and producer, Richard Hawley will play material from his six studio albums. Hawley is something of a household name, having gained a nomination for the Mercury Prize in 2006, and a nomination for a Brit Award as Best British Male Performer in 2008.

Multi-award winning pop outfit McFly will take to the stage at Tynemouth Priory Castle on Friday night. Dougie, Harry, Danny and Tom will select their favourite hits from over 15 Top Ten singles and 5 Top Twenty albums.

Boy-band The Wanted will play the Priory on Saturday; their success has spread as far as the US, where the band have appeared on American Idol, The Voice USA and The Today Show. Expect plenty of hysteria as the boys take to the stage in the surroundings of the Castle.

A Sunday afternoon concert at The Priory will feature 80s synthpop outfit, Heaven 17, as the headlines. Other acts throughout afternoon include former Beautiful South members, The South; North East band The Caffreys; Bristol six-piece soul band, Yes Sir Boss; and the genre-spanning Rossi Noise.
