Web design revamp helps singer find her voice

Web design revamp, Find Your Voice!

Even famous singers with powerful voices need a little help reaching out to their adoring fans sometimes, and a well designed website is one way that they can do just that.

This was the case when renowned Welsh opera-pop crossover star Katherine Jenkins and her record company recruited a web design agency to give the singer’s site a makeover.

According to Business Weekly, Ms. Jenkins’ fans were very excited about the changes to the site and the forum was full of positive feedback. A spokesman for Warner Music meanwhile reportedly said that, “Katherine Jenkins fans love the new website and they have very high standards.”

As well as improving the usability and visual appeal of the site, the re-design included integrating live feeds from the singer’s Twitter account, an integrated eShop, forums and other interactive features.

The importance of hitting all the right notes with web design and SEO

For both popular celebrities and businesses alike, having a well designed website is crucial to cornering the online market and using the web to enhance your presence. But a well designed website is not enough in and of itself. Search engine optimisation is required to establish the site’s visibility and maintain it.

A successful website is one which not only gets its intended messages and brands across to web users in an attractive manner, but one which they can find easily, and before its competitors. In Katherine Jenkins case, the aim would undoubtedly be to ensure that her webpage is positioned at the very top of the page for searches of her name, well above any poorly written fan pages or potentially negative press pieces. By being positioned at the top of the SERPs, her brand is both visible and protected.

For businesses, it is vital to remain at the top of the search results, particularly if they have a large number of direct competitors.

As with a good opera or pop song, orchestrating an effective online presence requires perfect harmony between on- and off-site search engine optimisation and web design practices. If you want your site to be top of the pops, you need to invest to make sure it strikes all the right chords with its audience.
