Retail ups and downs
According to the British Retail Consortium, like-for-like retail sales rose by 1.4% in June, the fastest annual rate of growth since December.
But Marks & Spencers did not benefit from the “bunting boost” said to have been created by the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations, and reported a 2.8% fall in underlying UK sales.
