Associated British Foods enjoy strong sales with Primark
Sales at Primark have continued to strengthen in quarter to June 23, say owners, Associated British Foods.
A year-to-date sales increase of 16% was driven by an increase in retail selling space, and further like-for-like sales growth.
Poor weather in April was said to cause a period of weak sales, in an otherwise healthy quarter.
ABF said pressure on UK household incomes had continued this year, driving consumers to seek value from choice, promotions and price.
Revenue for the entire group, including companies which produce brand such as Jordans cereals and Kingsmill bread, was up 11%.
Increased advertising activity on Jordans and Ryvita brands spurred sales, and even the Diamond Jubilee holiday was said to have buoyed sales of home baking products, including Silver Spoon sugar.
