Health professionals launch partnership
TWO former North East NHS workers have joined forces to form a new business aimed at helping primary health care providers make the most of their resources while delivering first-class health care.
John Johnson and Roger Haydon have set up Sunderland-based Aptitude Partners LLP to provide support for improving non-clinical areas of work, focusing initially on GP practices.
Under the trading name Helping Health Work, the pair, who both worked for County Durham Primary Care Trust, are partnering with trusted colleagues with health care experience to offer solutions to GPs aimed at improving efficiency while delivering quality care for patients.
John, who spent years as a GP Practice Manager, and whose most recent role was in Commissioning and GP Practice support for County Durham PCT, said GPs and Commissioning Consortia should act now to get themselves into shape for the fast changing NHS.
Roger, who was Head of Information Services at County Durham PCT, has developed tools and processes which will help GP Practices audit what they do, identify options for change and then put those changes in place.
He explained: “Ultimately, our aim is to give our clients the means and the know-how to carry work forward themselves after our consultancy is completed – we don’t want to create dependency, we want to support change.”
One of the tools used by Helping Health Work helps show GPs the specific times each week when patients request consultations, and how practices can ensure they have maximum cover at the right time.
John added: “With our years of experience between us, and with our expertise in different areas of the NHS, we believe that by focusing on the essential back office non-clinical areas of operation, Helping Health Work will be able to offer GPs solutions to challenging operational problems which are getting in the way of providing a first class health care service.”
