Durham Markets Launch City’s Inaugural Evening Market
Durham Markets is set to host Durham’s first ever evening market on Thursday 26thJuly, 4pm-9pm in the Market Place, Durham City.
The event, inspired by Mary Portas’ report on retail in the High Street, aims to bridge the gap between the close of the daytime economy and the start of the night-time economy in the city centre, and encourage more people to come and visit the City Centre during the early evening.
The Market will feature a wide range of food, fashion and gift stalls by local independent retailers. Musical entertainment will be provided by singer Kris Atkins. B-bopping streetdancers ‘The Wreckheads Krew’ will also be performing throughout the evening.
Colin Wilkes, Managing Director of Durham Markets, says:
“The Evening Market offers the ideal opportunity for people to come and enjoy a summer evening in the City, either by staying a bit longer in the City centre after work or arrivingearly for a night out. We hope that the Market will be a great success and welcome everyone to join with us on Thursday, to celebrate the City at its best!”
