Icing on the CakeBook for Toffee Factory

It was the icing on the cake this week for the Toffee Factory as businesses based within the former sweet factory helped decorate a cake of the award-winning building for CakeBook Britain - EAT! NewcastleGateshead’s acclaimed event which sees a 100sq metre map of Great Britain created entirely out of cake.

The Stirling Prize longlisted building was made in cake by Sugar Down Bakery owner Neil LeFloic and decorated by staff from businesses based at the Toffee Factory.

Lisa Tolan, Toffee Factory Centre Manager for Creative Space Management said:

“Toffee Factory is delighted to be involved in Cakebook Britain this year – we like a challenge! Cake Fridays have fast become a Toffee Factory tradition so this is a fitting way to celebrate recent RICS and RIBA awards success. Needless to say we’re very excited about decorating our much loved building and joining in with such a great event.“

The decorating session took place as part of Toffee Factory’s regular Cake Friday social events when staff based within the building meet and chat at the end of the week over tea and cake.

Sarah Hanley, Creative Director, Sumo said:

Cake Friday is a great way to get together with other Toffee Factory tenants over delicious coffee and cake giving us a chance to really get to know other people in the building. It’s a _sociable and tasty end to the week!_“

Toffee Factory is a new space for creative businesses based in an award winning converted sweet factory in Newcastle’s Ouseburn Valley.
