Procter and Gamble Graduation Success 2012!

Graduation award ceremonies for Newcastle Business School, Northumbria University students were held on campus this week and among them saw the first cohort of Undergraduate BA (Hons) Accountancy and Finance students from Procter and Gamble.

Four students graduated; Kathleen Smith, Emma Stephenson, Faye Wilson and Rebecca Scott on the 4-year part time programme, after attending Newcastle Business School for one afternoon and evening per month since 2008.

This year was the first year that Procter and Gamble have seen employees graduate from this programme and students achieved both 1stand 2:1 degree classifications.

Andrew Murtough, Finance Group Manager at Procter and Gamble commented “We’re extremely proud of all four of our employees graduating from Newcastle Business School’s BA (Hons) Accountancy and Finance programme today; it’s a real achievement for them all. We’ve already seen huge benefits from their learning applied to their day-to-day work and the fact that they base their dissertations on ‘real life’ work situations, has helped with invaluable research for Proctor and Gamble”.

One of the students, Rebecca Scott, was also acknowledged as a prize winner on Newcastle Business Schools 1stever Deans List; an award ceremony celebrating the achievements of those students who accomplished 70% in each of their modules. She was one of 25 other graduates who were invited to a VIP style breakfast event with School Dean, Professor Sharon Mavin and also received a £100 cheque as a congratulations prize for such a high achievement.

Rebecca added “the programme at Newcastle Business School has been fantastic; not only have I gained an undergraduate degree but the flexibility of the programme around my work, has been a real benefit. I really feel like I’ve learned a lot and will definitely be able to apply a lot of what I’ve learned in my day-to-day work, which will really help me and my employer. I’m also really pleased to have been included in the 1st year of the Dean’s List award – what an honour!”
