Best digital start-ups vie for $200,000

Cisco has announced the six start-up businesses shortlisted for the BIG Awards finals, which aim to find examples of the UK’s best digital start-ups.

In partnership with JP Morgan, Bird & Bird, DNX and Octopus Communications, the competition is a key component to Cisco’s British Innovation Gateway (BIG).

The judging panel have chosen five businesses, and an additional finalist chosen through the ‘Idea Market’, an online feature which allows BIG Awards community members to support and vote for their favourite semi-finalists via the BIG Awards site.

Shopitize Ltd; Six3 Ltd; Nervecentre Software Ltd; Digital Shadows Ltd; ParkatmyHouse Ltd; and Snap Fashion Ltd, will now have 21 days to prepare for the final, which will take place on September 12.

The overall winner will receive approximately $200,000; made up of $100,000 cash, 12 months of mentoring from Cisco and a 12-month support package covering PR, marketing and legal services.

Runners-up and semi-finalists will also receive cash and support packages to help in the development of their brands and businesses.

Phil Smith, CEO Cisco UK and Ireland “We have seen some phenomenal talent showcased throughout the Cisco BIG Awards process and we’re delighted to announce the final six. It has not been easy to select the finalists and so we felt it right to allow our extensive BIG Awards community to support and vote for their favourites through the Idea Market.

“We truly believe the final six are each a testament to the thriving entrepreneurial community within the UK, and look forward to working with them and supporting them in developing their brands and ideas.”
