British Business Embassy Olympic summit on british education
The British Business Embassy are holding a global summit focussing of education today, as part of a series of events during the London Olympic Games.
The event will showcase the best of British education as part of an initiative to improve international links through collaboration and trade.
Former Olympians and the pilot of the world’s fastest car, Andy Green, will come together with 250 UK and international delegates to inspire young people to go into higher study.
Speaking today on the importance of remaining in education will be former world record holder and silver medalist from the North East, Steve Cram and Olympic gold medalist, Sally Gunnell.
The British Business Embassy hopes to inspire the next generation through today’s event by using sport, science and technology to encourage young people into further education.
Minister for Universities and Science, David Willets commented: “The Global Business Summit on Education will provide a unique platform for educators from across Britain and around the world to discuss global education challenges and do business with each other.
“It will provide a powerful showcase for our education sector and its increasing importance in today’s highly competitive internationalised economy.”
The conference comes as three UK educational institutions unveil their exciting plans to build cross-continental bridges.
New College Nottingham and Batra Group announce the opening of a vocational academy in India; the first of its kind in the country.
The University of Salford will also launch a new commercial professional development subsidiary, to provide high-quality training in the UK and overseas.
Furthermore, Liverpool City College announcing their successful acquisition of a three-year contract, worth £45,000, to teach Chinese international students.
These initiatives demonstrate the positive impact and financial benefits that the educational sector has for business and UK-international relations.
Trade & Investment Minister, Lord Green, said: “The UK’s education sector generates over £14 billion in exports annually and is respected around the world as a global innovator.
“New partnerships forged today will not just generate new business, but help shape the high-tech skills we need to drive progress and fuel growth.”
