MP Danny Alexander Praises Cargo Fleet Offices Success
Liberal Democrat MP Danny Alexander has praised the successful regeneration of Cargo Fleet Offices by Python Properties from a derelict building to a thriving home for businesses.
Whilst visiting the region the Chief Secretary to the Treasury visited the recently restored Cargo Fleet Offices with fellow Liberal Democrat politician Ian Swales, constituency MP for Redcar.
The politicians were taken on a tour of the property and informed about its history and importance to the region by representatives of regeneration specialist and commercial development firm Python Properties.
The industrial landmark, which was originally built by Cargo Fleet Iron Company in 1916 and was subsequently headquarters for British Steel Teesside, was reopened in 2011 after a £1.5m restoration project. The iconic building has been restored into high quality business premises with a bistro and Heritage Gallery.
Martin Johnson, Python Properties partner, who led the tour said: “We are delighted both politicians could take time out of their busy schedules to come and witness first-hand how this regeneration project has not only helped to preserve an iconic Teesside landmark but also spearheaded business activity and growth.
“They highly commended how Cargo Fleet Offices was helping to support small medium enterprises to grow and thus benefit the regional economy; one of the coalition government’s major objectives to improve the current financial status.
“The actual development process and preservation of the building’s original charm and features was also praised.”
Python Properties will be celebrating the first anniversary since the reopening of Cargo Fleet Offices on August 8th with a summer soiree, which more than 150 business professionals, political and regeneration figures from the region are anticipated to attend.
The soirée, which will run from 5.30pm until 8.00pm at Cargo Fleet Offices on Middlesbrough Road, Middlesbrough, will include a keynote speech from Redcar MP Ian Swales and live music from blues and soul singer Ani Sandwith.
