Bristol refrigerants company acquire US environmental firm
A Bristol-based refrigerants supplier has finalised the acquisition of RemTec, the US specialist in controlled halocarbon management and sustainability industry.
The South West company, A-Gas International, is one of the world’s largest suppliers of refrigerants and has strategically gained control of the American firm.
This is the fourth acquisition the company has made in 2012, both internationally and within the UK, as their plans to grow come to fruition.
A-Gas are already well established in the UK and Europe in the Environmental Services market. This strong foundation has enabled the company to branch out to international firms to give them a foothold in the USA.
RemTec International manage chemicals which are harmful to the environment across the world, using equipment to recover and reclaim halocarbons from fire protection industry, and also CFCs, HCFCs, and HFCs used in refrigerant and HVAC applications.
They have locations throughout the world in China, the Middle East, Australia and India.
With A-Gas acquiring companies in Australia, including Technochem in March 012 and SA Rural in May 2012, and UK based A-Zone Technologies in April 2012, their taking on of RemTec is a significant step towards building their already growing international bases.
A-Gas’s Executive Chairman commented: “The acquisition of RemTec is another great example of our ambition to grow the business on a global scale.
“RemTec brings a market leadership position in Halons and a strong platform for growth in refrigerants; we believe that there is real scope to build further upon RemTec’s success to date in North America, whilst also driving value across the enlarged group.”
A-Gas have state-of-the-art facilities in Bristol, Cape Town, and Melbourne.
